Reflections

An article I read recently points out from relatively recent history that there is a cycle of rejection of traditional laws and customs, followed by a period of lawlessness and violence, but that eventually the people pull themselves together and gradually re-establish a more stable society. It struck a note of hope in a time when the institutions that represent law abiding, harmony and stability have lost a lot of credibility - with the consequences that are all too obvious.
